Spring Break

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m off on my last Spring Break ever! Tomorrow morning bright and early, Josh and I are driving across the state to Seattle for his brother’s housewarming party, and then Sunday morning I’m flying home to San Francisco for a week in California. I absolutely can’t wait — I’m so ready to get back to 65-70 and sunny.

Ever since I spent last summer in London, I’ve become like a packing Queen. I have a kind of complex system of packing, but it’s always been foolproof for me and has saved me many headaches. First, I make a detailed list outlining what I need to take home — how many days I’ll be gone, any special events I have to plan ahead for, etc. I split this list into sections, i.e. tops, bottoms, shoes, bags, accessories, etc. Then, I head to my closet, knowing how many days I need to pack for, and I create a section of my closet devoted to my trip. Once I’ve done edits (just like Rachel Zoe! Except with wine and music…) I start packing. It may sound time consuming, but I promise it saves so much time in the long run. Throwing random stuff into a suitcase and not having everything you need for a trip ends up being way more of a time-consuming ordeal!

This little pink case [on the right] is so perfect for throwing a few in-flight necessities into my carry-on. Most notably, my contact case, hair ties, my EOS lip balm, Kate Spade lipstick and some gum. DSC_0325 DSC_0327

What also definitely helps is having great products to pack with. I’m not a “throw everything into one bag and go” kind of girl — I like things organized and to stay in place so that when I land, I can just take things out and put them away. It’s also essential to have a carry-on tote that holds everything including your laptop, iPad, wallet, keys, books, magazines, toiletries, etc. That’s the exact reason I love Stephanie Johnson — each season I stock up on their pieces and I can’t get enough! Be sure to check out some of their new prints and patterns for spring — my faves are the Careyes and Miami Pink.
